| PDP protests shortage of ration in city | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 22: To lodge protest against failure of the authorities to release ration for the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, activists of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today held a demonstration against the state government. The protesters demanded that all the eligible families should be given ration from the depots run by the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department. The protest demonstration was led by Mushtaq Ahmed, secretary of the PDP Jammu district in which large number of party activists were present. Shouting slogans against the government, PDP activists also blocked movement of traffic on High Court Road and warned that party workers would take extreme steps if authorities failed to streamline supply of ration to poor families. Addressing party activists, Mushtaq Ahmed said that names of many deserving BPL families been deleted from the existing lists without any reason. He further added that on the one hand prices of essential commodities like flour and rice are touching all time high while on the other hand State Government has been denying subsidized ration to the poor families. He said that subsidized ration was the right of the poor people and party would not allow the authorities to commit this injustice with the people. He further said that scale of the ration supplied to poor people has already been reduced.
