| Guru Nanak Dev’s 'Parkash Utsav' celebrated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 22: The 542nd Parkash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev was celebrated at Gurudwara Digiana Aashram Jammu with zeal and enthusiasm where thousands of devotees participated. The Raagi Jatha of Giani Bachan recited the Shabd Kirtan and preachers and leaders of various Sikh organisations delivered the lectures on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev. On the occasion, some resolutions were also read and passed including permanent settlement of PoK refugees of 1947, reservation for unemployed Sikh Youths in Government jobs, to make the Punjabi language compulsory in the school curriculum, appointment of minority commission in J&K and appointment of a Sikh judge. The Parkash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev was also celebrated in Central Jail Ambphalla Jammu where Raagi Jatha of Digiana Aashram and the same Sikh preachers and leaders of various Sikh Organisations who participated at Digiana Aashram also addressed central jail prisoners. All the speakers including senior BJP leader Narinder Singh Raina stressed upon them to realize and adopt the path shown by the Guru. On the occasion Karah Prashad, sweets and fruits were distributed among the prisoners and jail staff. The superintendent of jail also spoke on the occasion and thanked Mahant Manjeet Singh for accepting his request to depute the Sikh religious personalities for celebration of Guru Nanak Dev’s Prakash Utsav in jail.
