| PCCF inaugurates training programme for foresters | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 22: Principal, Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu and Kashmir RD Tiwari inaugurated the training of 70th batch of Foresters here today at Soil Conservation Training Institute, Miran Sahib. In his inaugural address, Tiwari impressed upon the trainees to imbibe the best traditions of the forestry profession so that they can be able to meet the challenges of the present and future needs. He also elaborated the rich tradition of family of foresters and exhorted trainees to maintain it by taking pride in their profession. Elaborating the history of Forest management in the State, he stressed that the professionalism and eminence of illustrious foresters like Brandis, Pratt, Lawrence, Clutterbuck and S.K Seth should be carried forward. He cautioned the coming years will be challenging for foresters as the new activities like Climate change mitigation, livelihood support, regeneration of Natural Forests etc will require special skill and extra efforts. The PCCF also inspected the training campus of which he has been the first Principal. He directed the Conservator of Forests, (Working Plan and Training) for preparation of a comprehensive blueprint for upgradation of the Training Institute upto desired level. He also mentioned that the training will remain under the constant monitoring of his office to ensure that high standard and traditions are maintained.
