| Cold waves continues, minus 5.3 in Leh | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar Nov 22: There was no let up in cold wave gripping Kashmir region with Leh, the capital of Ladakh, recording minimum of minus 5.3 degrees Celsius while Gulmarg and Pahalgam remained coldest in the Valley. A metrological official said, Ladakh region continued to hover below zero degrees Celsius. While Leh recorded minimum of minus 5.3 degrees Celsius, Kargil, the second largest inhabited place in the cold desert, witnessed a low of minus 3.0 Degrees Celsius. As per Met, Gulmarg, the world famous ski resort, was the coldest in Kashmir valley, recording a minimum of 2.1 Deg Cel while health resort of Pahalgam in South Kashmir recorded minus 1.0 degrees Celsius. Srinagar, the summer capital of the state, recorded a slight rise in the night temperature, recording a low of 2.5 Deg Cel against 1.0 Deg Cel yesterday. Qazigund and Kokernag recorded minimum of 1.5 and 2.9 degrees Celsius while the night temperature in Kupwara stood at 2.3 Deg Cel. Jammu, the winter capital of the state recorded a low of 12.8 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the weatherman has predicted rain or snow at a few places in the state in next 24-hours. “Light to moderate rain/snow is likely to occur at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir in next 24-hours,” the Met official added.
