JAMMU: Five alleged criminals today made an abortive bid to encroach upon a piece of land at Rajiv Nagar in Bari Brahmana near here.
Police sources said Kalu, Raju, Turli, Shabir and Munshi, all residents of Bari Brahmana, today came to Rajiv Nagar along with a JCB and allegedly tried to encroach upon the land belonging to one Sharief Mohammad.
When Akshay Kumar, a local, intervened, he was severely beaten by the accused, the sources added. Sources said when more local people gathered there, the accused fled the spot and took the JCB with them.
Though police had registered a case against the accused, they were yet to be apprehended. |
