5th skill development prog begins | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU Nov 23 A 5 days Skill Development programme for artisans/ entrepreneurs / exporters / manufacturers in handicraft trade has been started in Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute campus Jammu today. This programme has been organized by National Centre Design for Product Development (NCDPD), New Delhi and has been sponsored by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. A total of five such programmes (covering 100 artisans) had been organized in Jammu, in which a maximum of 20 participants were covered in each batch. Dr. M I Parray, Director Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute was the chief guest on the inaugural function. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Parray said that the basic objective for implementation of this progamme is to upgrade the existing skill as well as to add the additional skills to Handicrafts artisans through specialised industry oriented training programme. In addition, this programme intends to bring change in the mind set to overcome the resistance to change because of lack of knowledge. Speaking on the occasion, course coordinator Vishal Ray, Assistant Faculty, Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Institute, spoke on the importance of such Skill Development Programmes. He assured of his best support to the local artisans from his organisation. The 4th Skill Development Programme under the HRD Scheme completed on November 22 wherein Pawan Raina, Investigator from Development Commisioner Handicrafts, was the chief guest. Certificates were awarded to the participants of this programme which started from 15th of Nov in JKEDI Campus, Jammu.
