JKPA demands employment policy for physiotherapists. | | | Early Times Report Jammu , Nov 23 Jammu Kashmir Physiotherapy Association (JKPA) today started an indefinite ‘sit in’ Dharna in front of Divisional Commissioner office, Jammu in favour of their long pending demand of creating employment opportunities for them. Addressing the protesters, leader of the association Dr Vimal Singh Manhas said that the state government was behaving in a step motherly attitude towards the unemployed physiotherapists of the state. He further said that there is no employment policy for physiotherapists. Our state is number one in health care sector but still physiotherapy is not included in health care and without physiotherapy how can we say our care sector is top among the list he added. Also there was no government college in the state for them due to which they are forced to get enrolled in private colleges, so there should be government physiotherapy colleges in the state. He demanded from the state government to established State Council of Physiotherapy on the pattern of other disciplines of the state. He also said that in this connection the association had met the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad, Medical Education Minister R S Chib, Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma and the Finance Minister of the state Abdul Rahim Rather, but none of them paid heed to their demands seriously. He further added that State Govt. has done injustice to them as they were not involved in any state or centrally sponsored schemes like NRHM and all that. This step motherly treatment of the state govt. has created chaos among all of us and has created a psychological stress and fear in our minds related to our future i.e. in total darkness
