| DDC discusses disaster management preparedness for winters | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAMBAN, NOV 23-To review the preparedness and formulation of contingency plan for coming winter season, a meeting of District Disaster Management Committee is held under the Chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Shabir Ahmad, who is also Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority.
The meeting was also attended by Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Ajay Singh Jamwal, SP Ramban Mubassir Latifi, DSP Traffic, XEN PWD, ACD Ramban, Tehsildar Banihal/ Ramban/ Gool, GREF and Army Officials besides other District Officers.
During the meeting, the DDC emphasized need for preparation and readiness at all levels so as to put into action the Disaster Management plan to meet any kind of eventuality during the coming winter season. District Development Commissioner underlined the need for quick & adequate response to any disruption on NH-AI/ Link roads and protection of life and property due to avalanches and unusual snowfall.
All the concerned Officers are directed to submit the contingency plan pertaining to their sectors within four days. During the meeting instructions are issued that concerned Officers under the supervision of ACR Ramban shall visit all the shelter sheds and ensure that all are in a usable condition and equipped with desired material. Instructions are also issued to XEN PWD/ GREF authorities that they will ensure arrangements for snow cutter/ requisite machinery/ clearance of road at vulnerable points.
