Development of hilly and far flung areas priority of government: Tara Chand | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 23:-Describing development of hilly and far flung areas of the State as priority of the government, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said that various schemes have been launched to upgrade facilities of healthcare, education, power, PHE and R&B in these areas. He said development policy of the government has been fine tuned to cater the requirements of such areas and a focused attention is being paid to uplift and develop remote belt of the state. Tara Chand said this while addressing series of public meetings in far flung hilly areas of Pukharni, Mallah and Bharore, today. The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by District Development Commissioner, Jammu Mr. Sanjeev Verma and other senior officers of Rajouri and Jammu districts. Exhorting concerned officers to improve upon the delivery system, he said that it is duty of the administration to deliver efficiently and make sure that benefit of various schemes reach to the people at the grass root level. Funds are not a constrain for development as liberal funding is being given by the central government , now it is up to the administration to work with dedication and zeal so that public grievances are addressed in a time bound manner, he added. Responding to the demands in the education sector, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to make sure that requisite staff is posted in the schools and a phased manner up-gradation of the schools is also taken up. Directing social welfare authorities to hold special camps for clearing pension cases under various categories, Mr. Tara Chand said a camp at Mallah would be held on December 13, in which all pending cases would be looked in for early redressal. Describing MNREGA as a flagship program, the Deputy Chief Minister called upon the people to take maximum benefit from the scheme. Under the program works of different nature can be taken up, which not only provide employment but also go a long way in developing facilities in the rural areas.
