| Daily wagers again lock PDD Comm, stage protest | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 24: In continuation of their agitation to press the government to fulfill their pending demands, hundreds of daily wage employees today once again locked the PDD Commissioner and other senior officials at their offices and staged a mass protest in this winter capital. Over 500 daily wagers, who were demanding regularisation, assembled at the Commissioner's office shouting slogans this morning. The employees gheraoed the complex and locked PDD Commissioner Asgar Ali for the second time in a week along with other senior officials present in the office for a meeting. The protestors alleged that despite a clear assurance from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, nothing has been handed to them in black and white. Shouting anti-government slogans, the daily wage employees demanded their regularisation and threatened if their demand is not met soon, they would launch a statewide agitation. The employees however dispersed after an assurance from the PDD Commissioner that their issue will be discussed with the government on priority and a meeting would also be fixed with the Chief Minister.
