| Rehabilitation policy a landmark decision: NC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 24: The announcement of the policy by the state government on return and rehabilitation of the ex-militants to the state is a landmark decision and the most effective confidence building measure to provide relief to the families which have been waiting since long for the return of their kith and kin said Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, spokesman of the J&K National Conference here today. He asserted that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has initiated series of measures to address the political and humanitarian dimensions of the Kashmir problem which has resulted in reducing the despondency of the people who are feeling a ray of hope after a long spell of frustration and despair. “The coalition government of the state and the Government of India deserve our full support and appreciation for having facilitated the proposal of Omar Abdullah and thereby exhibited clear manifestation of their coordination efforts in restoring peace and prosperity in the state”, said Sheikh Ghulam Rasool. He further said “it is pertinent to mention that People’s Democratic Party propagating the so called healing touch policy came in their true colours when it opposed the proposal on the floor of the House of the state legislature and did not allow its adoption”. The party spokesman further stated that the party cadres have been advised to get in touch with the affected families to take full advantage of the scheme so that it is implemented in its true spirit.
