| 1st phase of Dal colony to be completed by June 2011 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu NOV 24:The first phase of work to rehabilitate people dwelling around the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar will be completed by June next year, Jammu and Kashmir government has said. "Authorities should accelerate pace of work to ensure timely completion of all the basic facilities at the site and first phase should be complete by June next year," Minister for Sheep and Animal Husbandry Aga Rahullah said after chairing a meeting of the officers of Housing department and Lakes and Water Development Authority (LAWDA). More than 3,000 families living around the Dal Lake are being rehabilitated to a colony at Rakhe-e-Arth at a cost of around Rs 150 crore in order to preserve and conserve the water body. Rehabilitation of people living around the Dal lake is a priority for the government, the minister said, adding directions have been issued to concerned authorities to coordinate with Public Health Engineering, Electrical and other allied departments to achieve the targets within the stipulated time frame.
