| 6-yr-old among 2 killed, 22 hurt in road mishaps | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 24: A six-year-old boy and a motorcyclist were killed and 22 others wounded, some of them critically, in separate road accidents here today. Ajit Singh of Pounic Parakh, Reasi, had come to participate in a marriage function at Daskal in Akhnoor. Police sources said while the boy came out of the banquet hall on the road, he was hit by a speeding Tata sumo (JK12/1031), resulting in serious injuries to him. While some marriage revellers evacuated the injured to the hospital, others smashed the sumo whose driver fled the spot. Sources said the boy was declared brought dead by doctors in the hospital. After post-mortem, the body was handed over to his family members for last rites. Police had registered a case against the sumo driver and launched a manhunt to nab him. In another incident, an unidentified motorcyclist was crushed to death by a speeding Ford Icon car (JK02AM/6175) on the national highway at Barian near Sapwal in Samba. The body was kept in the Samba district hospital mortuary for identification. The motorcycle (PB58F/5091) was also badly damaged in the incident. Police had registered a case in this connection. Atleast 22 passengers were wounded when the minibus in which they were travelling overturned in the middle of the road at Sole in Akhnoor. The minibus (JK02/8856) was on its way from Mawa to Akhnoor. Overspeeding was stated to be the reason behind the incident. The injured were hospitalised. Some of them were identified as Sanjay, Rakesh, Tej Ram, Kewal, Ashwani, Ashu Devi, Joginder, Major Ram, Simpi, Shivani, Bachan Lal, Multan, Sardari Lal, Sham Lal, Ashok Kumar, Shamu and Vijay Kumar.
