| Infiltration bid foiled in Mendhar, JCO hurt | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU NOV 24: A junior commissioned officer (JCO) was wounded in an exchange of fire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sub-sector of Poonch after alert army troops foiled an infiltration bid by militants in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. Official sources said jawans guarding the forward Peer Post in Mendhar spotted a group of militants trying to sneak into the Indian territory at about 4.30 am. When the troops challenged them, they came under heavy fire from across the LoC. Fire was returned. In the ensuing exchange of fire that continued for nearly an hour, JCO Shahji Memani was wounded critically. He was hospitalised. Casualty, if any, on the Pak side could not be known immediately, the sources added.
