| Rehabilitation of militants will have far reaching consequences | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 24: The rehabilitation policy for the militants has drawn wide spread criticism. The State Government decision has not been viewed seriously by the nationalist forces in the J&K but people across the country have many apprehensions about the J&K Government' surrender policy. According to sources the people across the country while expressing their displeasure over the decision have apprehensions that if implemented it will prove tantamount to national unity and integrity. The rehabilitation of militants who have waged a war against the nation and were responsible for killing of thousands of people and security forces personnel in J&K during last 21 years of turmoil will get a moral boost, sources added. Sources said that these views have been expressed by the leaders of various nationalist parties who have also decided to send memorandums to the Union Government asking it to force the State Government not to take a hasty decision in this regard. Questioning the decision a senior leader of Shiv Sena has said what guarantee the Government of J&K has that these militants will not spy for Pakistan or the other dreaded terrorist outfits active in that country. The people who have taken to arms and were responsible for such a mass destruction don't deserve amnesty but they deserve to be dealt seriously under the law of the land, he added. The VHP leadership has decided to make it a nation wide issue as the consequences of the decision will be tantamount to national interests as well. This fight is not confined to J&K but should be fought at every corner, said a senior VHP leader. Terming the Omar Abdullah Government a grave security risk he said the Chief Minister of J&K is going to repeat blunders after blunders. After challenging the merger of the state with Union of India, this is the second controversial decision of the coalition Government and the nationalist forces will not allow him to succeed in his designs. “We will not allow the rehabilitation of the people who have waged a war against the nation at any cost'' he said adding the Government should prosecute them under law instead of granting amnesty. This will be in the larger interests of the people of J&K as well as country, he added. The Government should not show any leniency to the militants at any juncture as this will not help in restoration of normalcy and peace in the state, said a senior BJP leader from Kashmir. Instead of rehabilitating those who were responsible for the destruction of the state and miseries of the people, the Government should have thought about the genuine sufferers in the state, he added. He said this way the Government was rewarding the traitors and punishing those who are nationalist by core. Already thousands of unemployed youth including unemployed engineers, technocrats, ITI technicians, Jawans of home guards and daily wagers are on strike in different parts of the state seeking redressal of their grievances. Though these people are struggling in a peaceful manner for resolution of their demands but the Government has neither shown any sincerity not it bothered to do justice with these hapless youth, he added. He said instead doing justice with these hapless people the Government has taken a decision to rehabilitate those youth who have waged a war against the nation and brought the state on the path of devastation. |
