Flat owners aghast over HBC’s lethargy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu,Nov 25: Babus with round bellies and inflated egos sitting in the high echelons of the Jammu and Kashmir Housing board corporate office may have been enjoying cool and cleaner environs in upscale Green belt park area but when it comes to providing /creating basic minimum cleanliness and encroachment free entrance to their customers the housing board authorities have shamelessly failed to deliver on their own promises at the newly constructed 3 bed room flats in sector 2 of Channi Himmat Housing colony in Jammu. The board authorities were expected to handover the possession of the flats by January 2010 but it is yet to complete the construction/ cleaning work at the project site. The board have constructed four blocks with six units each in pocket 6 but the same authorities have failed to complete its clean up act and are delaying formal handing over to all the clients. Several temporary structures were raised by the contractor during construction in front of the main gate of the flats have not been dismantled till date. Rusted iron rods, heaps of garbage littered in front of the main gate of the flats greet the visitors. The road outside the block is used as a garbage dump by the local residents and till date board authorities have not arranged proper garbage disposal. The hapless owners have repeatedly urged the board authorities to ensure cleanliness around the flats without results. The local residents have also demanded cleanliness in the construction site. They complained that their children get hurt by the iron rods while playing in the area.
