Richi Land downs Christian Star in football league | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, November 25: Richi Land Club trounced Christian Star by two goals to nil to strengthen their position in the ongoing Junior Division League Football Tournament, organised by Jammu wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) at Mini Stadium, Parade here today. Beginning their attack from College end, Richi Land took first lead in the 20th minute when Sartaj Singh netted the ball from right flank beating the advancing goal keeper. It was followed by a dilly dallying battle as both sides made all out efforts for a breakthrough. After the breather, Christian Star initiated some good moves playing most of the time in opponent goal area. Although the possession of the ball remained with young side of Christians still they conceded another goal in the 60th minute to go down 0-2. In another match of the day, Churchill-B held Young Warriors to a 1-1 draw but of no avail. The draw game played by Churchill-B helped Bhagat Singh Club qualify for the super league round of five teams from group-E. Bhagat Singh topped the pool with 10 points. With nine points in their account, Churchill had every chance to qualify for next round. The win would have brought Churchill at the top of the points tally while draw secured only one point. Earlier, Jamil helped Churchill take first lead striking in the very first minute of the match. However, Young Warriors got an early chance to equalize but Ankit missed the penalty kick awarded in their favour in the 30th minute. It was only in the 45th minute that Young Warriors brought in the equalizer with Bhagat Bahadur netting the ball on a pass from left flank. In another scheduled match of the day, New Dogra got walkover Khour Club. Today’s matches were officiated by Sanjay Kumar, Vivian, Vinay Mooman, Eliaza Sotra, Anoose Gill, Manpreet, Yusuf Don and Richi Rozer.
