| Protesting PDD daily wagers cane-charged | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Nov 25 : The daily wagers of Power Development Department (PDD) protesting for the last one week demanding regularization were lathicharged by the police here, today.
Hundreds of PDD daily wager employees this morning assembled at Commissioner's office. The protestors, were demanding regularization of around 2500 daily wagers across the state. Police resorted to mild cane charge to disperse them.
The agitators, however, later reached Chief Engineer's office in Canal Road to take out a protest rally but heavy deployment of police, restricted their movement and did not allow them to assemble.
Around five employees were injured in a ding dong battle while few were also taken into preventive custody.
It is pertinent mentioning here the PDD daily wagers are protesting for the last one-week demanding regularization. They had also locked the PDD Commissioner and other senior officials twice to lodge their protest.
