Flat owners flay J&K Housing Board’s shabby work Appeals Dy CM to intervene | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 26: Accusing the Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board authorities for neglecting them and spending huge sums of money on their own comforts the owners of the flats in newly constructed blocks of sector 2, Pocket 6 in Channi Himmat have alleged that despite giving them several reminders the board authorities have failed to remove encroachment and create better living conditions for the allottees.
In a press statement issued here today to attract the attention of the Deputy Chief Minister Tar Chand, who is also Minister Incharge for Housing and Urban Development Minister several flat owners, without identifying themselves urged him to personally intervene in the matter and direct the housing board authorities to take corrective measures to address their grievances.
In their appeal the flat owners have said, "We have invested huge sum of money to stay in a dream house but after taking possession of the flat what we received came as a rude shock to us. To begin with the entrance of the pocket 6 is dotted with several temporary structures which housing board authorities have refused to dismantle despite giving them several reminders".
Secondly the approach road has not been constructed by the housing board. Few flats are still occupied by the care takers or even security staff.
There is no provision for waste disposal. There is no garbage dump available in the area where waste material can be dumped or disposed off on daily basis.
Pointing towards their own newly renovated office building the flat owners said for buying their own comforts the Jammu and Kashmir housing board authorities have wasted huge sum of public money but when it came to providing facilities to allottees of the 3 bed room housing board flats the babus sitting in the cozy confines of their offices seems to have developed a cold feet.
The flat owners said, "The JK Housing board authorities were expected to handover the possession of the flats by January 2010 but it is yet to complete the construction/ cleaning work at the project site".
The JK housing board have constructed four blocks with six units each in pocket 6 but the same authorities have failed to complete its clean up act and are delaying formal handing over to the allottees.
Angry occupants who are busy giving finishing touches to their prime properties revealed that despite giving several reminders to the senior Housing baord authorities the concerned babus have turned nelson's eye and paying no heed to their personal requests.
The local residents in the area have also demanded that the housing board authorities should first complete the clean up act from the construction site and lift the iron rods. The residents complained that in the evening when their children are playing outside often they get hurt as they get entangled in the iron rods while playing.The residents have also demanded construction of road leading to the front gate from the main road.
