| BMO Purmandal among 5 booked in 93 kanal land scam | | Matter is under investigation, says Div Com | | SUMIT SHARMA

JAMMU, Nov 26: While investigation of 3000 kanal SMVDU land compensation scam is in progress in Crime Branch Jammu, another 93 kanal land scam surfaces in Nagrota with guillotine falling on five including a Block Medical Officer too caught in trap.
In this case where BMO has been booked for issuing fake death certificate of the owner of the land, the other four persons who were instrumental for executing the plan have been booked for getting the power of attorney of piece of land in their own names through fraudulent means.
The scam came to lime light when numberdar of Nagrota Om Prakash lodged a complaint with the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pawan Kotwal alleging that some persons through fraudulent means had managed 93 kanal piece of land in their own names.
The said piece of land was in fact allotted to a refugee of 1947.
Giving information, a highly placed officer in Crime Branch said that one Daljeet Singh of Gol Gujral Camp, Tallab Tillo who is a refugee and had Alfa form in his possession was allotted 93 kanal piece of land in Nagrota by government.
The matter was reported to four property dealers in the area by an employee of Relief Department who hatched a plot and produced an imposter Deljeet Singh before Naib Tehsildhar Nagrota and through independent witnesses got the piece of land registered in his name.
Ironically they also produced Daljeet Singh before court and managed power of attorney of land from him in their names.
Sources identified one of the accused as Hardev Singh of Nagrota.
The numberdar of the area Om Prakash who personally knew Daljeet Singh got suspicious when he came to know that some notorious property dealers of the area had possession of 93 kanal of land.
He lodged a complaint with the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pawan Kotwal and appraised him about the situation. Acting swiftly Divisonal Commissioner Pawan Kotwal called the property dealers and asked them to produce Daljeet Singh before him.
Fearing to get exposed they bribed doctor Parminder Singh who was posted as BMO Daskal and managed fake death certificate of Daljeet Singh from him and submitted the same to the Divisional Commissioner Pawan Kotwal.
"On the complaint of the numberdar of Nagrota I got suspicious and asked property dealers to produce Daljeet Singh. To hide the truth they hatched a conspiracy and produced death certificate of Deljeet Singh before me ,though later it was proved fake. The matter is under investigation in my office ",Divisional Commissioner Pawan Kotwal informed when contacted.
The U turn came in the episode when Om Prakash produced original Daljeet Singh before Divisional Commissioner with identity proofs. The latter summoned BMO Parminder Singh who is at present posted at Purmandal and on being questioned he admitted his fault.
On the direction of Divisional Commissioner, Om Prakash lodged a complaint with the Crime Branch Jammu that during investigation five persons including BMO were found guilty in the land scam and accordingly registered a case against them under section 420,467 and 468 RPC under FIR NO 22/2010.
When contacted, SSP Crime Branch Johny Willam admitting the same said that teams have been constituted to arrest the accused. He however restrained in disclosing the names of accused suspecting them to flee. |
