Symposium on national unity organized | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Samba, Nov. 27; As part of the National Integration and Communal Harmony week, the Kathua unit of Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India organised a symposium at Government Higher Secondary School, Gagwal block of Samba district. The topic was “the role of youth in strengthing National Integration and Communal Harmony”. The programme was aimed at to aware the rural masses especially the youth community about the need of strengthening national integration and communal harmony which is the prime need of the hour. Earlier, the DFP Kathua also organized a series of awareness Programmes in the interior area of Samba district including Gagwal, Nonath, Jatwal, Narana, and Rajapura. These programmes included seminars, symposiums, group discussions and films shows and were aimed at giving awareness to the rural masses in general and youth in particular regarding the days of national importance. Ten students of the host school from different standards participated in the debate . Principal of the host school , Ravi Koul presided over the function whereas Publicity Officer Gulshan Raina was the chief guest . Speaking on the occasion, Gulshan Raina underlined the need of strengthening national unity and communal harmony among the people of the country. Raina exhorted upon the students and staff members of the host school to maintain and boost communal harmony and work together in a unified manner . Earlier a grand rally of the students of the same school was also organized. Some 300 students and teachers of the school participated in the rally which passed through the streets and bazaars of Gagwal holding banners, placards and chanting slogans on National Integration and Communal Harmony, spreading the message of oneness. Presenting vote of thanks, Ravi Koul, Principal of the host school said that it is the dire need of the hour to maintain National Unity and Communal Harmony and appreciated the efforts of the DFP for organizing such type of programmes . In order of merit Sakshi Dubey, Sulkshna Sharma and Vinod Kumar were adjudged first, second and third respectively and were honored with merit certificates and other prizes. Other participants were given away prizes and participation certificate by Gulshan Raina.
