11/27/2010 9:00:56 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 27: A brilliant knock of 181 runs by S K Minhas today helped visiting Himachal Pradesh take complete control of the match on the second day of the three-day ongoing North Zone Vijay Merchant U-16 cricket tie at GGM Science College hostel ground, here.
In reply to Himachal’s 224 runs first innings lead, host J&K were struggling at 23 for two in 17.1 overs. Both the openers, Amir Khan and Shubham Khajuria went to the pavilion contributing just three and 10 runs respectively. Kamran Bhatt was at the crease with nine runs in his account when stumps were drawn.
Earlier, Himachal Pradesh resumed their innings from overnight score of 140 for one and played confidently throughout the day. Finding the total sufficient enough to bring J&K under pressure with a day’s play remaining Himachal declared their innings at 370 for four in 113 overs in post tea sessions.
Opener, Minhas made career best 181 runs studded with 22 boundaries and one hit over the fence. However, he missed his double ton when caught by Paras Sharma off Shubham Khajuria. Dhiman and K N Panta also played well contributing 40 and 26 runs respectively. Pankaj Jawal (25) and S K Negi (06) were at the crease when Himachal declared their innings.
From J&K, Shubham Khajuria took two wickets while Paras Sharma and Mehfooz Khan shared apiece each.
