SMVDU lecturer bags India Gandhi Women Achiever's award | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 27 - Dr. Garima Gupta, Lecturer in English, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, was conferred with the prestigious India Gandhi Women Achiever's Award at a function held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi last evening. The award was presented to Dr. Garima by the former Governor, Dr Bhishama Narain Singh, on behalf of the India International Friendship Society, New Delhi at the function organised to felicitate distinguished personalities who have glorified India by their outstanding work in the respective professions and contributed significantly to the social reforms, teaching, academics, science, technology, medicine, politics and journalism. Dr. Garima, a resident of Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, has many achievements to her credit. The daughter of former Head of Department of Mathematics, Jammu University, Dr. J. S. Gupta and wife of Maj. Amit Slathia, a Shauraya Chakra awarde of 2008, she got gold medals for her excellent performance in BA and MA examinations. Born in 1976, Dr Garima, already a member of many reputed national and international organizations, is recipient of several awards, honors and fellowships, also has a number of publications to her credit. She was among 12 top NCC girl cadets selected from across the country for participating in the Indo-Canadian Youth Exchange Programme in Ottawa, Canada in 1997. She was also awarded Chief Minister's Gold Medal in 1997 for being the best all round NCC Cadet.
