| Coalition’s claims mismatching their deeds: Chaman | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Nov 28: The high sounding sermons of the coalition leaders do not match with their deeds. Because of this the State of J&K is gripped with many maladies and problems for the masses.
This was observed by Prof. Gupta while commenting upon the advice given by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to the Civil Service probationers at Lal Bhadhur Shastri National Academy that the bureaucrats should act apolitical and they should not succumb to pressures of the executive for providing good governance, and accountable, responsive and corruption free bureaucracy.
He said that there is corruption from top to bottom but for the abuse of power by the ruling junta.
Addressing a meeting of the party activists at Janipura and some other places in the Jammu West Constituency, Prof. Gupta said that many developmental works have been stuck but for political interference and abuse of power by the ruling leaders of the Congress and National Conference.
In this regard, the BJP leader pointed out that three major fly-overs for the city have been approved and huge sums have also been provided for the purpose by the Centre, at least one of such a project for has been held up for execution because of the whims of certain politicians although in the absence of such fly-overs this capital city is getting chocked with traffic jams and congestions.
He also charged the ruling leaders of indulging in discriminatory approach in the allotment of funds by pressurizing the bureaucracy and acting against the oath taken by them that they would not act in any manner, which is discriminatory and infected with ill-will.
Prof. Gupta also alleged that the bureaucracy has been virtually enslaved and even the powers of postings, transfers and those for appointments are being misused by the ruling leaders, and if any one of the officers tries to be apolitical he is forced to face transfers and various types of humiliations..
He further said that the separatists and forces hostile to the unity and integrity of the country are exploiting this growing resentment. The prevailing turmoil in the Valley is the clear outcome of malfunctioning of the ruling hierarchy.
In course of tour of the Constituency, Prof. Gupta took stock of the problems facing the people and the development works under execution.
