JAMMU, Nov 28: Host Jammu and Kashmir today suffered an innings and 10 runs defeat in the hands of Himachal Pradesh after both bowlers and batsmen failed to show their presence felt in the three-day North Zone Vijay Merchant under-16 tournament at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
However, Paras Sharma and Sahil Shafi played inspirational innings thereby brought the total to a respectable position of 208 in the second innings today. Both together added 107 runs for the fourth wicket stand bringing the score on board from 28 for three to 135 for four. While Paras, who earlier made 65 runs in first innings, lost his wicket at 66 today, Sahil Shafi contributed 60 runs.
Ahmedomer Banday was another main scorer with 25 runs. From Himachal Pradesh, KS Verma was most successful bowler with four for 54 in 24 overs while PP Jaswal took three wickets.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has earned a sharp criticism from the senior cricketers and parents of those left out boys for team’s poor performance despite fielding overage boys. They pointed out that only genuine boys have performed in this match, so the selectors must pick up the right team for the next match.
Now, in the next away match, to be played from December one to December three, J&K shall face Haryana.
