| St Stephen’s appoints Rishi as first director Alumni Relations of college | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Nov 29: St Stephen’s College under leadership of Valson Thampu has appointed Harish Pal Singh Rishi (53), an alumnus of English (Hons) of St Stephen’s College 1977 batch, as the first director of alumni relations of the college.
With a 20000 plus strong alumnus and growing, St Stephen’s needed an alumni relations and has got one of its own to passionately build a community of stephenanians at the Stephen’s Campus.
Harish Pal Singh Rishi has a rich experience in the corporate and business world and sports domain. Singh was General Manager – Strategic Business Development of ITOCHU India, a subsidiary of the US $ 107 Billion Japanese conglomerate Itochu Corporation till mid July 2009 and worked with Itochu for 27 years. To pursue his passion for sports, he joined Commonwealth Games as Dy Director General from August 2009 till 31st October 2010.
Commenting on Singh’s appointment, Thampu said "Alumni Relations is a very important area for St Stephen’s so that we can involve Stephenians in building St Stephen’s into a world class educational institution that nurtures leaders from India."
Thampu further commented "By appointing an Alumnus as Director – Alumni Relations, we have brought one of our own to build the emotional bonds with the Stephenians."
Mr Harish Pal Singh Rishi commenting on his new role shared "I am humbled to serve this great institution and with fellow Stephenians to build an active and involved alumnus so that we can realise Thampu’s vision and the faith he has vested in me."
