| JMC drive against stray animal menace continues | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU Nov 29: A team led by the Municipal Veterinary officer along with field staff conducted drive against the unstamped meat being sold in the market and visited the areas of New Plot, CPO Chowk, Jewel, Talab Tillo . A fine of Rs 3800 was realized from the defaulters who were selling the unstamped meat in these areas. Continuing the drive to check the menace of stray animals, the team had also visited the areas of Rehari, CPO Chowk, Janipur, Akhnoor Road, Jewel, Talab Tillo, Narwal, Gandhi Nagar, Channi, Trikuta Nagar, Digiana and lifted nine stray animals from these areas. The stray animals were impounded in the Municipal Cattle Pound and an amount of Rs 2140 was also realized as fine from the owners of stray animals. Besides this, a complaint was received from the inhabitants of the area that the telecommunication tower was being installed on roof top of the building at Trikuta Nagar, Extension causing danger to the nearby houses. Acting upon the complaint, the JMC team under the instructions from S. C. Sawhney Commissioner, rushed to the spot and got the installation of the telecommunication tower stopped and also seized the material which was being used for erecting the said tower. The Jammu Municipal Corporation appealed to the general public to intimate the authorities of Jammu Municipal Corporation in case they observe any installation of towers in their vicinity so that the same can be checked.
