J&K basketball players forced to travel without reservation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Nov 29 The state basketball team members, including the girls, had a harrowing experience today when they were forced to travel without reservation in general compartment of Jhelum Express from Jammu to Pune for their national event. The team members which included girls were forced to travel in a general bogey which was already packed to the fullest capacity. The parents and guardians of the players lamented if officials had to organize a national tour, they should have made reservations much prior the scheduled start of the camp instead of making excuses that reservations were not allowed. When contacted Director General Youth Services and Sports S Alaherwal said that sometimes reservations does not get confirmed due to heavy rush and what is wrong in traveling in general compartment. Moreover, Laherwal said that it is not for the first time that reservation was not confirmed it happens frequently. Official sources said that the youth services and sports have their year calander for different games event and department can arrange sleeper class very well. The parents of these sportsman said that it is very disheartening that Chief Minister and Sports Minister R S Chib on one side are claiming that youths should come forward and bring laurals for the srate but on the other side state players were treated so poorly. They said that their wards complained that they were lying as they were of no worth. When R S Chib, minister for Youth Services and Sports was contacted said that he has no knowledge of their railway tickets but will surely look into the matter.
