Even Obama believes in Promise of India , why should not others
Daya Sagar11/29/2010 11:19:46 PM
The way American President Barack Abama described Bharat , in the presence of Indians, that too in the Indian Parliament on 8 November , has surely surprised many. May be not even any Indian leader would have ventured to so firmly lay before the world the ages old Indian history and Indian commitment to humanity. I would lay here a few of the words from the text of Obama's address that echoed the central hall of Indian Parliament that day ::< { "An ancient civilization of science and innovation. A fundamental faith in human progress. This is the sturdy foundation upon which you have built ever since that stroke of midnight when the tricolor was raised over a free and independent India. And despite the skeptics who said that this country was simply too poor, too vast, too diverse to succeed, you surmounted overwhelming odds and became a model to the world. As you carry on with the hard work ahead, I want every Indian citizen to know: < the United States of America will not simply be cheering you on from the sidelines. We will be right there with you, shoulder to shoulder. Because we believe in the promise of India> } Rashtraparti Obama to many might have appeared like the way Swami Vivekanand addressed the world community in Chicago. In his words enough of good lessons were aired for even the common man of Pakistan, for the innocent common Kashmiri, for the "budhijeevies"/ "thinking minds" like Arundati supporting separatist ideologies { on Kashmir} and for one sided human rights activists .Surely wise counsel must have gone to even those who have been in the business of describing the geographical , historical and cultural identity of Kashmir wrt India in a deceptive style. More so, Obama Could not have used a better style for messaging Pakistan as regards Jammu & Kashmir and international terrorism..
Surely India Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh jee too has that day stood heights with American president and accused Pakistan of not checking the efforts for inflicting terrorism / militancy on India. No doubt Man Mohan Singh jee too will have to carefully ensure at his level that the efforts being made for bringing peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir { Kashmir Valley in particular} may not instead boomerang. At many occasions points men/ negotiators/ interlocutors have been nominated by Delhi for Kashmir / Jammu and Kashmir. But experience has shown that such initiatives were not backed by serious, meaningful and realistic considerations. Even some interlocutors have been giving impressions that they were not themselves that clear about their scope of work. Whether they had been retained for identifying / settling the expectations of local people from the democratic setup, assessing the economic status / needs, identifying / verifying inter regional discrimination, corruption, imbalance in development ; or their working field also included those issues / views and people that lay question mark from the international angles / nationalities. It will not be possible to root out destructive elements from Kashmir and restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir till clear lines are drawn between such like domains for those who are given to prepare drafts for securing the destiny of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Instead the efforts so far made through negotiations / discussions and working groups have appeared providing some helping hand to the anti India ideologies as well..
Barack Obama has very firmly said that America believes in the words of Bharat. { "Because we believe in the promise of India" }, So "those" Indian Leaders who sit in DELHI will have to answer to the Indian People why recently Delhi had to suggest that there was a need for India to win the mind and hearts of Kashmiri people for India. Such questions and doubts need be cleared before the common man in very plain and simple words without any further loss of time.
American Rashtrapati Barack Obama did rightly say on 8 November in the Parliament that a peaceful, democratic and economically capable Pakistan would be in the interest of India as well. Similarly I would add that under the circumstances it too would be in the interest of people of Pakistan too rests in prosperous and strong India. A part of Bharat lands became East & West Pakistan but that may further disintegrate into smaller countries like Bangla Desh .The religion fueled explosion of 1947 can not be that easily repaired but India can surely contribute, through her intentions , to the welfare of the people {who became the victims of the designs of "some" } who separated from India in 1947..Indian leaders { Congress and BJP Combine} will have to rise above internal political gimmicks to give a end shape to any boundary dispute with Pakistan. If not done so peace & normal democracy will never prevail in Pakistan and the people of Jammu & Kashmir in India too would remain engulfed in uncertainties / confusions..
In December 2006 the then Pakistan President Parvez Musharraf was very much scared about his future. He had started sensing dangers from Benazir Bhuto and Nawaz sharief .He had often suggested that Benazir and Nawaz Shrief should cut sides from the Pakistan Politics. In December 2006 he had gone to the extent of saying that Nawaz Sharief aur Benazir will not be allowed to enter Pakistan arguing that Nawaz Sharief had on his own begged for 10 yrs exile from Pakistan in exchange of legal actions against his person. It was for these reasons that Nawaz Shrief was then asked to return back to Saudi Arabia without entering Pakistan. As regards Benazir he had said that on her return to Pakistan she would have to pass through many legal / judicial processes. Musharraf had gone to the extent of saying that there was no question of their contesting any democratic election. Then I had written that keeping in view the political history of Pakistan it can be said that in case Nawaz Sharief or Benazir comes to political power in Pakistan then Musharraf will not be able to live on Pakistan lands. Position is no different in 2010 AD..
Common Pakistani is still helplessly hoping for democracy in Pakistan. Pakistani people have been suffering since six decades in the heats of fires lit by their own elders in the name of religion based partition in 1947.. No doubt India too have been the victim of some heats from across the borders. For years the leadership in Pakistan as well as the Pakistan Army has been trying to lay the foundations of their rule in the name religion as well as using the slogans like "Kashmir Banega Pakistan " in the name of "Kashmir saundarya sampada" & cultivating hatred against India. Pakistan's claims that Kashmiries are fighting for their freedom from India and Pakistan is supporting them in the cause of humanity. Claims are surely not that honest. On the other hand it could be inferred that the Pakistani leaders, to keep the reins of powers in their hands, well knowing that they can not succeed in their ventures on Kashmir, would keep on their efforts to push Kashmir valley into ignorance, misinformation, distrust and religion based conflict for the survival of Pakistani leaders and not for any good of Kashmir.
I have said earlier and I am still of the view that to save Jammu and Kashmir from the damage that the terrorism and separatists ideologies are inflicting, India shall have to expose Pakistan before the world community in very plain manner. Priority, rather only, reference agenda for talks with Pakistan should be the efforts being made from the Pakistani soils as well as the areas of J&K in Pakistani control for keeping Kashmir in bloody and ideological turmoil..Such talks should be held at the levels of the Head of Government ( President / Prime Minister) and not at the level of even the Foreign Minister { what to talk of Secretary level talks}. Secretary level talks are no medication for Pak acromania I have been suggesting for more than a decade. In the past some firmness was shown by India, so Pakistan foreign office spokesman Tasleem Aslam was forced to say { 11 December 2006 } Pakistan had never claimed Kashmir to be her integral part. But even then the pressure slogans like "Kashmir banae ga Pakistan" was so heavy on Musharraf that it was under the pressure of religious fundamentalism that the same foreign office spokesman on 13 December 2006 said in a Pakistan TV programme that India had illegally occupied Kashmir in 1947 by sending her army and Pakistan as well as United Nations treat it { Kashmir) as a disputed territory/ region. So Pakistan is under compulsive politics.
It was on AUG10 this year that A division bench of the Sindh High Court, headed by Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani declared former military ruler Parvez Musharraf a proclaimed offender, saying that the former president failed to appear before the court despite several notices issued to him. One Maulvi Iqbal Haider in his petition had accused Musharraf of violating the constitution, illegal usage of national resources, damaging the federation and tarnishing the state's reputation. Earlier, the district and sessions court in Abottabad ordered authorities to declare former president a proclaimed offender in a case of alleged abduction of a scientist of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission who 'disappeared' over five years ago. His family members suspect that he was picked up by an intelligence agency Similarly the types of signals that are presently emerging from the happenings in Pakistan do suggest that the armed forces are still holding heavy in Pakistan and Zardari Jee / Geelani Jee too may not fall victim to the forces as had been the stories in the past. Pakistan lacks political stability as well as continuity so no any ruler in Pakistan of the day can so easily make a last settlement on issues like Indo Pak territory along J&K. Still some people in India { thinkers, social activists, analysts } are seen saying that had Musharraf stayed as President for some time he would have written the solution to Indo Pak dispute in a 4 or 5 point formulae on Kashmir. No doubt the same PAKISTAN ex President in near exile has again said in an interview to NPR on 13 November in New York that India and Pakistan 'almost reached peace' on Kashmir during his tenure, but unfortunately it did not materialise despite his 'best' efforts adding that were moving forward towards drafting an agreement. He had praised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his sincerity and Same Musharraf who has just launched a political party {All Pakistan Muslim League } had accused India of trying to create an "anti-Pakistan Afghanistan." Saying that if he was allowed to be very frank, India's role in Afghanistan is to create an anti-Pakistan Afghanistan," while he was at the Council on Foreign Relations on 8th November this year. Musharraf "believes Man Mohan Singh " and not India .One would be at loss to understand such like imaginations to survive when Musharraf is himself running for his survival. No doubt Man Mohan Singh Jee need to clear his position as regards the claims of Musharraf.. So, India has to hold to her own identity and strength.
