| HM militant surrenders before army | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 29: A Pak-trained Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant today surrendered before 27 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) at Jamia Gali in Mandi area of Poonch. Police sources identified him as Abdul Majid Sheikh (32) of Chadoora, Baramullah. He had exfiltrated to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in September 2006 and attended a militant training camp for 15 days. After receiving training in the handling of arms and ammunition, he stayed in PoK for three years and infiltrated into Kashmir in August 2009. Since then, he was putting up in Srinagar, the sources added. He came to Jamia Gali today after trekking a mountain and surrendered before the troops of 27 RR. Sources said he surrendered along with an AK rifle, its two magazines and 39 rounds. He told troops that he surrendered in Mandi because he did not trust security forces in the valley, the sources added. Sources said he was being questioned to find out if he was involved in any militant act. |
