| PG retains inter-college volleyball trophy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, Nov 30: The combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of
University of Jammu (JU) today retained the winners’ trophy beating host Government Degree College Udhampur in the Inter-college Volleyball Tournament held under the banner of Department of Sports and Physical Education, JU, here.
It was a straight sets win for PG Departments, courtesy brilliant play by Roshan, Anil, Wasim and Rakesh in the title clash. However, Sahil Jamwal, Ajay Kumar and Zahoor put in great efforts and fought well throughout from Udhampur College.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, last year’s runners-up, Udhampur College trounced Government MAM College in straight but close sets 25-22, 27-25, 31-29. The visiting MAM College spikers put in great efforts in the second and third extended set but could not it in their favour because of superb game played by the host boys.
In other semi-final, PG Departments outplayed Government SPMR College of Commerce 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-20).
In the final and prize distribution function, Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Balwant Singh Mankotia was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes.
Earlier, Principal of host Degree College Udhampur, Dr Nutan K Resutra welcomed the chief guest and other distinguished gathering. Col. Munish Gupta, CO of 5071 ASC Bn and Director Sports and Physical Education, JU, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau were among other prominent present.
Dr Rajender Sharma and Vikas Karlopia were technical observers of the tournament while Ashok Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Sanjay Sharma, Naveen Sharma, Kuldeep Kumar, Ajit Singh, Manik Nargotra, Amit Sharma, Pushap Kumar were and technical officials.
