BJP to hold protest demonstrations at Mandal levels from today
11/30/2010 9:39:47 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU Nov 30 : As next phase of party’s agitational programmes, the BJP will organise protest demonstrations and burn the effigies of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as well as the Congress-led UPA from tomorrow at Mandal levels throughout the state.
This was stated here, today, by BJP state general secretary Sat Sharma.
Sat Sharma said the party has chalked out a number of programmes of different modes to be undertaken in phased manner at different levels against the utterances of the Chief Minister over the issue of accession, repeated discrimination with Jammu province, rehabilitation of militants, delay in holding delimitation in the state and step-motherly treatment towards Jammu in giving compensation and packages to transporters, industrialists, shopkeepers, tourism and travel industry, who suffered losses during the 2008 agitation.
Sharma said the party had launched the agitational programmes earlier this month by organizing a massive workers convention on November 20 at Jammu, followed by 3-hour Jammu bandh-Chakka Jaam on November 27 . He said it is in this series that protest demonstrations, besides burning of effigies of State Chief Minister and UPA government will be organized at Mandals level in the state for one week starting from tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Sat Sharma, while condemning the militant shoot out at Qamarwari area of Srinagar city, said that this incident has once again proved that still the militants are active in the valley and withdrawal of troops and security pickets can prove dangerous. He said after this incident, the state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should reconsider his demand of withdrawal of troops or remove security pickets.
Sharma asked the Kashmir based leaders of NC and PDP not to politicize the issue of withdrawal of security forces.
