AJHLA for Jammu Tourism festival in December | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 30: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association has demanded immediate holding of a meeting of concerned officials and non-official tourism related organizations to chalk out the program of holding Jammu festival. A meeting of the hoteliers Association held today under the chairmanship of its president Inderjeet Khajuria pointed out that in a meeting convened by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and attended among others by Director Tourism and representatives of Trade organizations connected with Tourism, it was decided that the annual Jammu tourism festival would be celebrated in the month of December instead of April as had been the case hitherto. Although November month has come to close and December month is to start, but there appear no signs of celebrating Jammu tourism festival. No meeting of the organising committee has been called so far. Demanding that the new scheduled of holding the festival in December should be adhered to, the Association pointed out that this time of the year is most appropriate for holding the festival, since secretariat and other move offices are in Jammu as well as there is still heavy rush of Vaishno Devi pilgrims around this time. The April month becomes very hot and humid and coinciding of Jammu tourism festival with Baisakhi festival mars the importance of the two occasions. AJHLA further suggested that the programs for holding of festival should be chalked out with the view to attract tourists from outside the state as well as motivate the Vaishno Devi pilgrims to participate in the same, so that other shrines and potential tourist resorts are exposed to them. The others who attended the meeting included B.S Manhas vice president, Pawan Gupta general secretary, Baldev treasurer and Amarjeet Singh secretary.
