| Baseless orders of education minister | | Neck tie to raise government school students’ superiority complex | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 30: Education promotion policy in a Government Education Department is a much debated topic these days. Recently Minister for School Education Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed has directed students of government schools to wear neck tie with their uniform from next session. The idea mooted by the minister includes a logic that the students of the government schools should not suffer from inferiority complex. Students of private schools of the state are well dressed up and far ahead in intellect from their counterparts in government schools. But the minister said nothing about improving infrastructure in the schools. Actually students of government schools are feeling more humiliated and neglected on deprivation of quality education and other facilities. It is pertinent to mention that the state government schools of the state lack furniture facilities, teachers and many other facilities which are more important to be fulfilled than introducing the tie system. A sum of 25 crore rupees will be spent on this project at the cost of Rs 400 per students. The minister said nothing about the Rehber-e-Taleem teachers who are on contractual basis and are not permanent till now. These contractual teachers do not bother to teach the students properly. Surinder Sharma- a private teacher said that with the introduction of tie, look of students may be changed but the education of the students would remain same. He further said that completion of these facilities to the students will not upgrade their level as when the results are out they feel more humiliated than of now. He further added that the state government is unable to provide them the books on time and how can they spend this hefty sum of money on this task. Another teacher Pratap Singh said that with the introduction of the tie system government officials got another chance of minting money
