Cabinet meet today, routine matters on agenda | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 30: After skipping meetings for nearly three weeks in recent past, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has convened meet of his cabinet tomorrow , the second one in row since the last week. While last week's meeting saw one of major decisions of approval of Rehabilitation Policy for the POK based Kashmiri militants, the meeting scheduled tomorrow will discuss certain routine matters and give clearance to some decisions related to various departments. Sources said the cabinet will necessarily take up some departmental matters and give clearance to certain pending files for which some works are stuck up. The routine matters include approval for creating infrastructure and staff for the Katra Development Authority, a mandatory step for which the functioning in this vital Development Authority has remained affected. The cabinet will also take up the pending matter related to regularization of casual \contractual workers in some departments, which has also remained as pending agenda for some time due to unrest in Kashmir Valley. In addition to this, the cabinet will take up the matter of some revenue land to be given to the Sericulture Department for its use. There may be some similar smaller matters related to various departments which cabinet approval is mandatory, which will taken up in tomorrow's meeting, said the source. However, more than these matters, the cabinet ministers are expected to discuss certain matters related to people and places which may not form part of the formal agenda, said the source adding that when there is no vital or major decision kept in the agenda in any meeting, the ministers, taking advantage of Chief Minister's presence discuss the specific problems of any area of public. Most likely tomorrow's meeting apart from discussing general situation across the state , will utilize the time for non agenda matters, albeit related to people, sources added. It is worthwhile to mention that earlier on the cabinet used to meet not so frequently nor was there any time period fixed for convening it. It was during the course of continuous agitation in Kashmir valley recently, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah issued a proper order on holding the meetings of the cabinet as a matter of policy of the government. While it is on Tuesdays the meetings were essentially meant to be held, this time again it is being held on the third day as some ministers were not available in the winter capital. |
