EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 01: Pallanwala Club shall take on Volleyball Club Gho Brahmana in boys’ final of the two-day Jammu District Volleyball Championships, organised by Jammu District Volleyball Association at MA Stadium, here tomorrow. In the semi-finals, played today, Volleyball Club Gho Brahmana trounced Pinto Club Akhnoor in straight sets 25-21, 25-16, 25-23. Deepak, Raghu and Sachin played superb game from winners Gho Brahmana. In other semi-final, Pallanwala Club defeated Volleyball Club Pindi again in straight sets 21-15, 25-13, 27-25. Sumit Radhey displayed exceptional skills hitting power-packed smashes while Sachin from Pindi Club defended well throughout. Earlier, in the preliminary round, Gho Brahmana Club beat Shastri Club in straight equal sets of 25-16, 25-16, 25-16. In another match, Pindi Club downed Volleyball Club Joian in Bishnah 3-0 (25-21, 27-25, 27-25). In boys section, six teams from Jammu district are participating on knock-out basis. Meanwhile, in girls section, Pinto Club shall lock horns against Shastri Club in the final tomorrow. Earlier, in the semi-finals, played this afternoon, Pinto Club got walkover Friends Club while Shastri Club outplayed Pinto Club Akhnoor 2-1 (20-25, 25-12, 15-09). In all, only three teams turned up in girls section. Today’s matches were officiated by Naresh Kumar and Mulkh Raj Sharma. The championship was declared open by general secretary of the Volleyball Association of J&K, Kuldeep Magotra and president of district association, Manmeet Singh Aman. According to the organizers, the girls’ final shall take place at 1 pm, followed by the boys’ final and prize distribution function.
