RKJ celebrates 64th foundation day

JAMMU, Dec 1: Radio Kashmir Jammu today celebrated its 64th Foundation Day by organizing a Folk Music Concert here today.
The Programme started with traditional1ighting of lamp.
Various folk artists presented their items which were highly appreciated by the audience. These included Dogri Songs by Purshotama Atri, Sunita Atri, Rita Klladyal, Rakesh Salathia, Nirbhay Salathia, Surinder Manhas, Vishal Gupta. Gojri items were presented by Nor-ul-nisa & party. BA Mastana presented richness of Bhadarwahi folk music and Maqsood Ahmed and party regaled the audience with Kashmiri Chhakri and Rouf Katar Chand and party presented Pahari Folk Songs.
Thus, today's presentation imbibed the spirit of composite culture of the state for which Radio I (Kashmir Jammu is making every endevour to protect.
Abdul Gani Malik, Minister for Higher Education-J&K State was the Chief Guest. Malik eulogized the immense contribution of Radio Kashmir Jammu since its inception. He particularly praised its role in highlighting the problems of common masses of remote and far flung areas, besides being the foremost agency in promoting local culture and art with emphasis on infotainment imbibing the latest broadcasting standards.
Speaking on the occasion, Station Director, Radio Kashmir Jammu- Javaid Iqbal highlighted the role of Radio Kashmir Jammu in promoting local folk music, culture and enrichment of languages spoken in the region.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Station Engineer VP Yadav.
