Another road mishap: 6 killed, 20 seriously injured near Kalakote

Rajouri, Dec 1: At least 6 passengers died and 58 others injured including 20 seriously in a road mishap on Tata-Pani Kalakote road. Overloading is said to be the reason behind the accident.
As per sources, a mini-bus bearing registration number JK06-4559 met an accident near Khargala Morh of Kalakote. 6 passengers traveling in the mini-bus died on the spot who were identified as Anuradha Kumari daughter of Rajinder Singh resident of Tundla, , Sonia Kumari daughter of Rajinder Singh resident of Parmandal, Anil Kumar son of Tehal Singh resident of Tatapani, Showkat Hussain son of Wazir Hussain resident of Parmandal, Mohammad Arif son of Mohammad Iqbal resident of Bouh and Pooja Devi daughter of Narinder Kumar resident of Tatapani while 58 passengers were hospitalized.
As per eyewitness, mini-bus having capacity of 26 seats was jampacked with more than 60 passengers when reached near Khargala Morh skidded off the road and fell into 100 feet deep gorge resulting in 6 causalities of the passengers.
Following the accident, locals, police and troops of 63 RR reached the spot and launched rescue operation. They shifted the injured to the hospital where 13 of them were airlifted to Government Medical College Jammu while 7 others are being shifted by road to the GMC Jammu. The remaining injured are getting treatment in the local hospitals. Police sources said that the mini-bus was overloaded and it has capacity not more than 27 passengers.
Meanwhile local residents have alleged that the mishap took place only due to negligence of the local administration and traffic police. They said it is not a new thing for the drivers to overload vehicles in this area but administration and traffic police has always adopted silence over the issue. They kept administration and police responsible for the accident and demanded judicial probe in it.
