10-member doctors team take out knife from woman's duodenum | | | Jammu : A ten-member team of doctors today successfully operated upon a woman and took out seven inches knife from her duodenum in two-hour long surgery conducted at Government Medical College and Hospital here. The woman identified as Basanti Devi, 32, resident of Orissa, who accidentally swallowed knife while performing a trick of jugglery in 2003, was operated by a team of doctors' headed by senior laproscopic and general surgeon Dr Sanjay Bhasin. ''We have successfully conducted the surgery that lasted for two hours and removed the knife from her duodenum,'' Dr Sanjay Bhasin told . Dr Bhasin said the woman along with the family used to perform tricks and accidentally swallowed the sharp object seven years ago. ''Since then she used to complain of stomach pain and continuous vomiting,'' the doctor said, adding that the lady was admitted two-weeks ago and after complete follow-ups by conducting X-rays, citi scan and endoscopy, and the reason behind was diagnosed. ''Surgery has been successfully conducted and the knife has been removed,'' Dr Bhasin said and added that the woman was in unconscious state. The doctors' team, however, included Dr Sanjay Bhasin, Dr Vijay Kumar, Dr Shaadi Lal Kachroo, Dr Raj Kumar Bhagat, Prof B B Kapoor, Dr Rajesh Mahajan, Dr Madan Katoch, Dr Kewal, Babu Sharma and Kamlesh. |
