JKCCTU smells fraud in Centaur deal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 2: J&K Coordination Committee of Trade Unions has termed the recent move initiated by the state government to pass over possession of CentaurLake View Hotel to Hotel Corporations of India for a third party mediation by a Mumbai firm for its take over as a fraudulent act. Addressing a press conference here today Mohd. Maqbool, president JKCCTU said that without the consent of the state govt, the HCI made a fraudulent agreement on 15.09.2010 with Mumbai based private company M/s BD&P Hotels (India) Pvt Ltd giving this prestigious component of the state to the private party on long term management contract along with manpower of about 350 employees for minimum of 30 years. He stated that the Govt, was desirous to develop a Convention Complex comprising of Centaur Hotel Convention Centre and common facilities. Both the parties invested capital to raise the structure on the land (i.e. Hotel & Convention Centre). He further said that in similar process in past the famous Mumbai based two Centaur Hotels are being thrown out which was later proved as fraud deal as one property was sold Rs.80 crores and only after eight months the same has been again sold to the tune of Rs.122 crores and crushed the rights of the employees resulting in the suicide of five employees which the , CBI is investigating. He said that for Centaur Srinagar it is a conspiracy plan made by the Management for uprooting the employment of Centaur Employees. The basic objective & purpose of joint venture plan of State Govt. & HCI dies here in all spirits and inspite of widening & opening employment opportunities for the J&K Youths, it is leading towards retrenchment of jobs with the augment of bad policies of the Management. He added that the HCI Management even not cared to depute professional Management in the Unit from decades together and is in habit to make directions from Delhi Centaur without seeing the ground position of the property. He stated that through this agreement with Govt.& HCI, the Govt, can not give this land to HCI to later surreptitiously pass it on to a third party and deprive the State and its people of yet another great asset. They strongly oppose this fraud deal and warned the concerned authorities particularly the HCI management to scrap this agreement & demanded that if the HCI is unable to run the Hotel they should hand it over to Ministry of Civil Aviation to cater to the needs of International Airport recently developed. at Srinagar or hand it over to the State Govt. |
