No dilution in BJP's stand on oust Omar campaign
12/2/2010 11:48:49 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 2: To silence and give a befitting reply to its detractors who have been accusing the Party leadership of hobnobbing with the National Conference (NC) and Omar Abdullah led Government in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched statewide oust Omar Abdullah campaign for challenging the merger of the J&K State with Indian Union.
Emboldened with NDA's recent landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP will not also absolve the UPA Government led by Dr Manmohan Singh for backing the Omar Abdullah. ``We have taken a principled stand against the Omar Abdullah and the Congress led UPA for their policies on J&K'', a BJP spokesman said. He said the Party will not let anybody to challenge the accession of the state with Indian Union which is a historical fact''.
The Party is ready to give any sacrifice for the national cause and it will not shirk its responsibility in this regard, he said, adding Kashmir is an integral part of India and BJP has given many sacrifices for total integration of the state with country so it will not tolerate any one challenging the accession.
“We have already started agitation and by giving a three hour Chaka Jam call on November 27 which has now followed by week long dharnas at constituency level'' to show solidarity with the nationalist people in the state.
He said to take out Omar Abdullah Government to its logical end the top national leadership of the Party including the former Deputy Prime Minister, L K Advani,
Party national president, Nitin Gadkari, former BJP chief, Raj Nath Singh, chief ministers of all BJP ruled states or deputy chief ministers where the BJP is in coalition with other parties. The decision was taken to give a clear message to the people all over the country that BJP will not make any compromise when there is question of national unity and integrity.
This is for the first time that the top brass of BJP will be in Jammu on December 23 and 24 and take party in Maha rally held on December 24, he added.
The Party will not let Omar Abdullah to go scoot free, he said, adding either he has to seek public apology for the statement made on floor of the State Assembly and take it back or quit the office.
He said this is the principled stand of the Party on the issue and it will not backtrack from the same. It is Congress which has no stand on such an important national issue. The Party should clear its stand on the issue concerning national unity and integrity, he added.
“Both UPA and coalition Government in J&K were playing with fire, he said, adding the silence maintained by Congress on Omar Abdullah's statements challenging merger and announcing the rehabilitation of Pak trained militants are inimical to the national unity and integrity''.
The spokesman said rehabilitating those who have gone across the border to wage a war against the nation will send wrong signals among the nationalist youth who too are hankering for Government jobs for years together. If taking to arms is a solution to the employment problem then tomorrow what answer the Government will give to the youth protesting peacefully for employment in different parts of the state.
Moreover the Government has not shown any concern towards the plight of West Pak , POK refugees and Kashmiri migrants, he said adding the discrimination with Jammu region also continues in all spheres of life and all claims made by the Government have proven hollow in this regard.
So party has decided to launch a vigorous movement against this to give a befitting reply to those who raise a finger on accession of the state with Union of India.
