| 14 smugglers booked under PSA, 23 cases registered in Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Dec 3: Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested 30 smugglers, including 14 under Public Safety Act (PSA) and destroyed poppy and bhang cultivation over 3000 kanals of land in Awantipora in South Kashmir district of Pulwama. A police spokesman said here today that in its drive against the cultivation and smuggling of narcotics and psychotropic substances, Awantipora police has so far registered 23 cases, arrested 30 people and booked 11 under PSA during the past six months. Poppy on approximately 2300 kanals of land and bhang on 472 kanals of land was destroyed by police. Besides, 23 cases under Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Act were registered by police station Awantipora in which 2.5 Kg charas and 2195 Kg fuki were recovered. He said 32 people were found involved in these cases out of which 30 persons have been arrested. 14 PSA warrants have been received out of which 9 PSA warrants have been executed earlier while 5 of them being executed today.
