JKPA stir, signature campaign continue | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 3: Jammu Kashmir Physiotherapist Association (JKPA) continued its day and night protest agitation for the 11th consecutive day today. The protesting Physiotherapists condemned the statement of health minister Sham Lal for terming JKPA’s protest as invalid. They asked Health Minister if physiotherapy is not included in the subject then why they have opened the physiotherapy colleges and why the selection for the physiotherapy doctors is done by BOPEE. As a part of their agitation, the physiotherapists yesterday launched a signature campaign in order to garner public support. On the second day of signature campaign, a huge number of people, doctors of other streams, civil and government servants signed and writ remarks in support of induction of Physiotherapy doctors in health stream. This is strange state government has professional educational policy but no employment policy for their absorption. Though they have some “out of way” polices to adjust favored ones not for deserving ones, said protesting physios JKPA warned govt. that they should think before speak against JKPA, because for the irresponsible statements anger is arising day by day in youth & protest may be more vigorous in coming days, if govt. didn’t stopped its lamb & irresponsible statements. Meanwhile State BJP has extended support to young unemployed Physiotherapists who are sitting on dharna in front of Divisional Commissioner Office for the last 12 days raising very genuine demands of absorption of unemployed Physiotherapists as Medical Officers in the government medical faculties, separate State Physiotherapists Council, re-opening of Government Physiotherapists College for professional BPT course, Physiotherapist departments for patient's treatment and Physiotherapist students training, says BJP State Spokesperson Dr. Nirmal Kamal. These young unemployed Physiotherapists are on the road to demand these facilities which if provided not only upgrade the health institutions in the state but also create employment avenues about what Omar Abdullah is much worried about. Jammu Province People’s Forum has too extended support to agitating physiotherapists, demanding their absorption in government jobs as including physiotherapy as a part of health services. Charging the Omar government of indulging in blatant discrimination with Jammu region and its unemployed youth, the forum asked if government too wants Jammu youth to take to arms and indulge in violence before their demands are conceded.
