JKWWS holds ‘save girl child’ campaign

Jammu, Dec 3: Jay Kay Women Welfare Society, Jammu organised an awareness campaign and workshop on ‘Save the Girl Child’ here at Village Bhadurpur, Bishnah Tehsil of Jammu.
The aim of campaign cum Workshop was to make masses aware about to eradicate the social stigma and blot against the humanity.
Kartar Chand, Sarpanch of the village was the chief guest while Bua Ditta presided over.
The resource persons of the workshop, while interacting to the inhabitants of the village put the light on the present scenario of the female feticide.
They said that unless we change our view point and the orthodox thinking this issue will remain to be unsolved.
There are number of factors involved for this unethical practice. There is an utmost need to keep strict vigil through which this practice is done. However, the females themselves can play a vital role to prevent this stigma from the society and so far as the men are concerned this is their Ethic responsibility to give girl child a due respect, honor and the dignity as well. Kartar Chand said that there is an urgent need to prevent this unethical practice by talking some drastic steps. Bua Ditta, Panch also spoke and share his views about this practice.
Besides the villagers, the students of the primary school, Bhadurpur, prominent social worker were also attended the programme.
Earlier Dr. Sudhir Mahajan while welcoming the guests revealed the aim and objectives of the JKWWS. Munish Sharma presented vote of thanks. The programme was hold with the support of Ministry of Health, Government of India under the project “Effective Enforcement of the Pre-Convincement (PC) and PRC Natal Diagnostic.”
