Where is the Task Force announced for Jammu : Harsh Dev | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 3: Jammu and Kashmir Nationalist Panthers Party (JKNPP) MLA and it's working Chairman Harsh Dev Singh has questioned the conspicuous absence of task force announced by the Government of India for addressing the issue of discrimination and bias against Jammu region in the matter of development and allied sectors. He said that Task Force for Jammu region had been announced by the Govt. of India along with the announcement of Interlocutors for Kashmir and Task Force for Ladakh. He pointed out that the interlocutors, who were meant primarily, to talk to separatists and other organizations of Valley, had held a series of meetings with several political and social organizations and had even submitted their first report to Union Home Minister. He said likewise the Task Force for Ladakh had also paid a visit to the region and held discussions with a cross-section of people including political and social organizations. He regretted that the Task Force for Jammu region had failed to hold deliberations with the political and social organizations and groups of Jammu region. Harsh Dev Singh pointed out that during the solitary visit of the Task Force to Jammu; the members chose to speak only to the bureaucrats and to other Govt. Departments. He said that agencies and bureaucrats were only supposed to put forth the government version rather than highlighting the areas of neglect and bias against Jammu. Harsh Dev Singh pointed out that the issue of discrimination against Jammu could be projected only by the Jammu people and the parties representing the aspirations of the region and not by the bureaucrats acting at the behest of rulers hostile to Jammu. He said that the refusal of the Task Force, during it's sole visit to Jammu, to interact with the public representatives and regional political parties was highly offensive and objectionable. Flaying the raw deal given to the Jammu region, Singh urged upon the union govt. to issue directions to the Task Force to hold interactions with Jammu people so that the issue of regional imbalance could be discussed and addressed in the proper perspective. He observed that the said Task Force must conduct an in depth study of the region-wise devolution of funds for developmental activities, inequalities in Employment, professional institutions, allocation of funds for Tourism promotion, Lakes and water bodies, road connectivity, power development, rural and urban sanitation, Assembly and Parliament seats, refugees and Migrants issues, issue of Central University besides other areas of regional bias.
