School children demonstrate hardships of disabled | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 3: To highlight the hardships faced by disabled people in public places, a special demonstration programme was organised today by Government Boys Middle School, Gandhi Nagar in association with Red Cross volunteers. The children blindfolded themselves, walked using stick and limped to highlight the problems of disabled people. Every year World Disability Day is observed for people with disabilities and its main focus is to maintain the dignity, well-being and rights of the people suffering from different types of disabilities. Senior state government teacher and Red Cross Volunteer Jasmeet Singh and one of the school teacher Manish Pandoh also delivered a lecture and urged the students to adopt a humanitarian approach towards disabled person where ever they find them and should always lend them a helping hand to minimise their hardships. Jasmeet Singh said, on this day, the awareness can be spread among people about the advantages of including sufferers of disabilities into our lives.He urged children to be more compassionate towards disabled and wherever they find them they must extend an helping hand to support them so that they can contribute their might in nation building. Singh said disability of one body part do not effect the capability of an individual to perform his duties and such people should be encouraged more and more to take up routine assignments. Head Master of the school Vinay Gupta also appreciated the Red cross volunteers for their support. On the occasion refreshment was also distributed among the school children by the Red Cross volunteers
