| GCET teachers rue govt apathy, demand promotion rules | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 3: The Engineering College Teachers’ Association (ECTA) has expressed serious concern over the delay in implementation of promotion rules and granting Sixth Pay Commission to the faculty even after the assurance by the Minister for Higher Education on the floor of the assembly and numerous deputations to the concerned authorities. A meeting of the ECTA was held here under the chairmanship of Rajiv Bali to discuss the growing frustration among the faculty members of non-framing of promotional rules and parity in pay scales with other teaching staff of the Universities and degree colleges in the state. The ECTA members alleged that government has paid no heed to their demands for last more than 15 years. They said that due to non-framing of recruitment rules, the GCET faculty has been the worst sufferers, at a time when all the state government employees are enjoying the benefits of Sixth pay Commission, the faculty of GCET is crying for the implementation of promotion rules of 5th Pay Commission and grant of Sixth Pay Commission. They said it is very unfortunate that only 28 faculty members of GCET, the premier and only state run institution, have not been granted 6th Pay Commission till date.
