| Women Commission organizes workshop on Gender Budgeting | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, DEC 3: A Two-day workshop on Gender Budgeting was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir State Commission for Women here today.
The programme was inaugurated by Advocate Shamima Firdoz, Chairman, J&K State Commission for Women in the presence of ADC Kathua Rohit Khajuria.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson Shamima Firdoz stressed on the officers to prepare the budget which is gender friendly. She said the training is an important tool for the officers to put the needs of women on papers. She asked the officers that training should be implemented because this way there will be empowerment of women.
Secretary, State commission for women explained the concept of gender budgeting and its need for the society. She said the gender budgeting is the application of gender main streaming in the development process, to understand how it address the needs of women not only in the traditional areas like agriculture, health, nutrition, but also in so called neutral areas such as Coal mining, Chemicals, Bio Technology, Commerce, Earth Science etc. Earlier ADC Kathua Rohit Khajuria welcomed the chairperson, J&K State Commission for Women, and other participants and extended full support to the commission on behalf of the administrative machinery for organizing such workshops in future.
Later lecture on Gender Budgeting by different resource persons was also given during the workshop.
