Legal clinic for disabled held | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 3: ‘Disability Day’ was celebrated in District Court Complex Ramban under the Chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Bala Jyoti. On the said occasion, a legal clinic/workshop on “Rights of Disabled Persons in J&K” was organized wherein President bar association ramban, advocates, munsiff ramban, executive magistrates, law students, police officers and prosecuting officers participated and spoke on the occasion. Two sessions were conducted. In the first session, a legal clinic was organized for the welfare of disabled persons and in the second session legal awareness camp on Legal Rights of HIV/AIDS affected person was held. While speaking on disability day, Jyoti emphasized to have compassion for disabled persons and for HIV/AIDS affected. She requested people to change the mindset towards HIV affected persons and for disabled persons. She also apprised about legal rights and constitutional rights for welfare of disabled persons, mentally retarded persons and for HIV affected persons. She further asked Judicial Officers, Police Officers, Advocates and Prosecuting Officers to be more sensitive while dealing with the issues relating disabled persons and AIDS affected persons as unless one puts himself into victim’s shoes we can’t realize the intensity of their sufferings. Participants and Bar President Ramban A.R. Musthaq and T.H Malik Advocate appreciated role of District Judiciary on organizing such activities for welfare of down trodden persons of the society. A special live question answer session was also organized. The entire programme was compared by Yahaya Firdous Munsiff Ramban and vote of thanks were presented by I.H Malik Advocate.
