CBI probe on hair cutting of Sikh youth sought
11/4/2006 11:33:47 PM
JAMMU NOV-04-Strongly condemning the incident about forcible cutting the hair and bread of Manmohan Singh at Kaluchak, Jagdev President All Jammu and Kashmir Akali Dal has asked the Government to hand over this case to CBI for inquiry. He said such ugly and unfortunate incidents are a black spot on Indian democracy and alleged that some mischievous elements are trying to disturb the communal harmony in the country.
Addressing media persons here, the Akali Dal President said that this very unfortunate incident occurred when Manmohan Singh and his father were back from Kaluchak on October 28 about 8.30pm, when Vijay Choudhary, Surinder Choudhary along with some other unknown persons abducted and assaulted them. The most humiliating and painful part of this unfortunate incident was that they forcibly cut the head hair and bread of the son, who helplessly cried and pleaded with folded hands against this irreligious act. The accused also used highly derogatory language against their hair and religion, he added.
Urging the Government to get this ugly incident probed by the CBI; Jagdev Singh demanded deterrent punishment to the culprits involved in it so that such incidents do not happen again in the country. He asked the Government to implement law against this act and provide safety to the minority community.
He has also supported November 6 Bandh call given by the Refugees United Front in support of the demands of PoK refugees.
Gajan Singh President Gurudwara Kalgai Dar, Jaswant Singh and Sujan Singh were also present at the press conference.
